HIFU FAQs

Cosmedic Professionals offers HIFU treatments in Sydney. If you’d like younger-looking and firmer skin, these treatments are a non-invasive and needleless alternative to cosmetic surgery.

What is HIFU?

HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) treatments are a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that rejuvenates aging skin. It lifts sagging skin on the face and body, specifically on the lower face, around the eyes, and the neck.

The treatment uses ultrasound energy to reach underneath the skin surface. It heats up the skin tissue, and this causes stimulation to the targeted area. As the area heals, the skin produces more collagen, resulting in tighter and younger-looking skin

HIFU technology is not like laser, Fraxel, radio frequency, IPL, needling, or any other skin rejuvenation procedure. It is a non-surgical facelift.

HIFU (High Intensity Frequency Ultrasound) is the next generation in advanced facial rejuvenation. The 4D HIFU uses the latest technology with deeper penetration of ultrasound beams that are delivered into the layers of skin tissue to reduce fat, tighten skin and stimulate new collagen with visible longer-lasting results.

Most importantly, there is NO damage to the under or  surface of the skin.

How many HIFU sessions will I need?

Usually, clients see results in a single session. Some clients may need more sessions depending on how their body builds collagen and the current condition of their skin.

Cosmedic Professionals recommends a maintenance program 6 - 12 months apart. The program includes Mini HIFU which can be done 2 - 3 months after HIFU skin tightening. It will help the memory of the muscle and skin texture.

How long does it take to see results from HIFU?

After your HIFU treatment, you will see some slight plumping, but the best results will come after 2 - 3 months. Your body will continue to regenerate collagen for the next 6 months after the initial treatment.

We continue to age every day, so we recommend pairing the treatment with a maintenance program. Adding skin treatments in-between to help the skin texture and reduce fine lines can also generate better results.

How long will HIFU last?

Results from HIFU treatments can last for a year or more. We cannot give a more definite time frame since results vary depending on an individual’s collagen production process and other lifestyle factors that could affect aging. The fact, is we are ageing every day, but HIFU will slow down the ageing process.

How does it work?

HIFU uses highly focused acoustic energy to create thermal coagulation zones. The body’s natural wound healing response results in the formation of new collagen thus providing long term tightening and strengthening of the skin.

Our 4D HIFU face and neck lift will go 4.5mm below the skin’s surface which goes beyond the dermis into the subcutaneous tissue to tighten the superficial muscle layer (SMAS) where the skin starts to weaken. Immediately after the 4.5mm beam, we then use a 3mm which targets the dermis layers to stimulate new collagen growth. HIFU targets 3 different depths in the skin layers, using up to 600 pulses for the full face & neck.

With our unique 4D HIFU, we can also go around the eyes and mouth to help fine lines and lifting of the eyes with no downtime or discomfort.

The treatment normally takes one hour and a half. On the day of your treatment, we will take a before photo and another photo 6 to 8 weeks after the treatment to see your progress. You will also receive a Free Skin Analysis to guide you with the right skincare to maintain the effects.

Is there downtime?

Unlike cosmetic surgery, HIFU treatments do not require any downtime. After the treatment, you will see some slight redness or swelling but normally your skin will have a healthy glow. You need to take certain precautions like avoiding temperatures that are too hot or too cold, but you will be able to resume most of your daily activities.

Who qualifies for HIFU?

HIFU is for everyone that is concerned about aging, tired skin or if you need a peep up. This gives you a natural healthy glow without surgery. You may schedule a consultation with Cosmedic Professionals to determine how this treatment can benefit you. Areas that can be treated are around the eyes, cheeks, jowls, neck and mouth, and we recommend the full face and neck treatment for best results.

What’s the difference between HIFU and microneedling?

HIFU and microneedling are both non-invasive treatments for getting firmer, younger-looking skin. These two treatments work amazing together for best results. We recommend skin microneedling in-between the HIFU treatments to constantly remind the skin to regenerate. Because our skin is aging daily, we need to continue to stimulate the collagen.

HIFU uses ultrasound energy to target specific areas, encourage collagen production and tighten the skin from underneath in the deep layers. Microneedling helps with the upper layers of the skin. Together, they create a faster response, making the skin spring back to youthful-looking skin.

If you’re unsure which treatment is right for you, you can book in for a skin analysis and we can design your unique skin package.

Can you do HIFU on the body?

HIFU is a great way to reduce stubborn fatty areas on the body without going under the knife. The treatment uses ultrasound energy to target fat cells under the skin surface. The body will then dissolve the fat through natural channels.

Not only does HIFU reduce fat, but it also helps with cellulite and tightening the skin, making the target area slimmer and firmer. We recommend HIFU treatment for areas like the stomach, arms, back fat, and love handles, anywhere you see pockets of fat on the body.

HIFU isn’t specifically made for weight loss. It’s more suited to targeting stubborn fat deposits that can be difficult to get rid of.

Is HIFU painful?

HIFU is a non-invasive treatment that doesn’t use needles. Patients may experience a slight tingling sensation during the procedure which can be uncomfortable. You may also experience some slight swelling and redness a few hours after the procedure.

Is body HIFU permanent?

Yes, HIFU treatments on the body are permanent. However, the patient’s lifestyle post-treatment will affect results. We highly recommend pairing the treatment with regular exercise and a healthy diet for best results.

Body HIFU will need to be repeated 6 to 8 weeks apart after the initial treatment. The target area and size of the unwanted fat pockets will help determine how many treatments you will need. To make sure, you can visit us at Cosmedic professionals clinic in Five Dock in Sydney for a consultation.

How much do HIFU treatments cost?

Treatment prices can vary depending on the areas of concern. We will take factors like whether the target is on the face or the body and the area size into consideration.

Prices for face procedures can vary depending on if it’s a full face or part of. We always recommend full face and neck to begin with.

HIFU Aftercare

To get the best results from the treatment, you need to follow certain steps once it’s done. You might also go home with aftercare products. Following these steps will also minimise possible side effects.

Avoid exposure to temperatures that are too hot or too cold, including activities that involve sun exposure, sunless tanning and more.

Avoid applying all products that contain skin irritants on the treated area. These irritants include glycolic/ salicylic acids, benzoyl peroxide, and retinol products such as Retin A, Tazorac, Triluma, Differin, and Vitamin C for one week pre and post-treatment

Advise staff when taking antibiotics.

Avoid alcohol. The liver will be mainly responsible for disposing of the fat deposits destroyed during the treatment. Drink 8 glasses of water for 4 weeks and follow a healthy diet and light exercise plan.

HIFU Maintenance

Our recommendation for long-lasting results is two treatments in the first year, 6 months apart then one treatment every year after that as maintenance. For more fatty areas like a “double chin”, you may need a few extra treatments around 3 months after the initial treatment.

Our Glow HIFU is a mini HIFU treatment which penetrates 1.5 mm in the epidermis layer. It can be done more regularly and is perfect before and after the HIFU Facelift. This will help to kick start the collagen memory and elastin, giving you an instant glow.

We call this OUR party treatment, a fantastic treatment before any special events. This treatment takes 45 minutes with no discomfort. It could even be done during your lunch hour.

HIFU technology has been around for many years and has undergone a range of different clinical studies and trials to demonstrate its effectiveness in delivering facial rejuvenation and skin-tightening effects in the treatment area.
